  • I have more problem having a DVD player available than I do an internet connection. IF I have NO connection, I wait to watch the movie later. The world won't end if I wait!!! I don't have to like it but it is what it is. I'm old enough to remember when I had to wait for a movie to be shown at the local theater. The town I lived in was so small that it was an old movie to the rest of the world before it even made it to my town as a new one so waiting is not an alien idea to me..
  • Everything has become SO dependent on the internet that I'm starting to feel like a grouchy old man all of the time whenever we go somewhere. For example, the youngest wants to play a video game - sure - we have a portable video game system - then we get in the car and it won't work, because all of the games he has only work if you are connected to the internet. You might ask why, but you won't like the answer... We bought him a little plush robot character to tell stories and sing songs on long trips or whatever - same thing - needs internet. Drawing tablet? Internet. Portable movie player? Internet. Next thing there'll be a board game that needs to connect to the internet, and then we'll be counting blue cars and they'll start all appearing as boxes with red x's in them unless you connect your windscreen to the darned internet!
  • But I can play a movie on my cellphone anywhere I want with an internet connection. I can even watch Pluto TV or Youtube when I'm at the YMCA😋

What would you do if there was no internet connection on your phone? If there is no connection to the internet, you would be unable to watch a movie, Pluto TV and YouTube

Yeah, well what if your power goes out shadow?
    • Shadow Of The Mind
If the power goes out I can play a board game or card game but if it’s dark outside when the electricity is off, I would just have to make do without electricity and wait.

What, no candles? Good answer though. I usually crochet. I can do that in low light.
    • Shadow Of The Mind
Candles or a torch would be helpful. I can turn on the light on my iPhone
  • Here you go again asking why people don't behave as YOU THINK they SHOULD! And you're criticizing everyone who disagrees with you. I don't even have a tv. But on my INTERNET CONNECTION I can watch many more movies and tv shows than you have. I can also check my email, play solitaire, sudoku, and puzzles, keep in touch with friends, apply for jobs, look up when a store is open and their phone number, write a post it note for myself, keep a calendar and set appointments and alarms, look up academic information, look up how to take care of my plants, look up recipes, get the news, play answerbag, look at the store ads, find out how to donate my body after I die. Can your little DVD's do that? I also keep a grocery list and a walmart list and a thrift store list and a to do list. Yeah your DVD's are looking pretty pathetic in comparison. Oh and it also has an entire library full of dictionaries. Almost all the information in the entire world is online and you'd rather settle for some old DVD's that scratch and break? 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆

Why do you keep thinking that I expect others to behave a certain way? I’m not a control freak so you’re wrong about that. I don’t criticise anyone like you think I do. You know how to get the wrong idea about me yet again. I have almost 2 thousand movies in my collection all of which I take care of so they don’t get scratched and not break. I understand that the internet is a way to get information but there is also the library or newspapers or people that can be informative. There are many ways to be entertained.

"Why do you keep thinking that I expect others to behave a certain way?" Because you say so in your questions.

"I understand that the internet is a way to get information but there is also the library or newspapers or people that can be informative. " Yes, but they are not in my home at my fingertips 24/7. Church is another place you can go to socialize and become informed.
    • Shadow Of The Mind
Church is for brainwashed people. Don’t forget you’re chatting to someone unaffected by that stuff. Whatever $hit you’re into
  • I would most likely watch Netflix on TV.
  • The biggest difference will come down to people who want to rewatch the same movies over again and say, "these are mine, I own them" vs people who plan to watch a streaming movie once and then watch another movie. Many people have turned to streaming services, mainly because not everyone has the space to store hundreds of DVD's in their homes, not to mention how expensive DVD's are. DVD's are well-worth it to anyone who has extra space at home and the money to buy the newest DVD releases. Streaming companies decided to screw people around by telling them that they don't actually own this or that movie. And now, streaming movie buffs are going back to physical media. Those who say they can play a movie on their mobile phone anywhere they want, someone really needs to introduce them to a portable DVD player. 🤷‍♀️
