• That you should always try to turn a bad situation around into something better. That you should make the most of what you're given. That by just putting a little bit of effort in, something better always comes out. That lemonade is tastier than lemons on their own x

  • "When fate hands us a lemon, let's try to make lemonade." Andrew Carnegie Some, the veritable obsessed, read fairytales in practical desperation, like a mop making sure there wasn’t a speck of dust left in the corners. There was nothing wrong with this. Whoever said “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade” had evidently never had to suffer a mundane life, one without any hope of a sudden breakthrough. We all need that little magic now and then. Books just happen to make it travel-size. Besides, sometimes it’s easier to obtain a book than go out and look for the magic in your own life (or to, in some circumstances, make the magic happen. "So, if destiny gives you lemons, make lemonade. That is the limit of our control over life." "Should there be more?" "Suppose I don't like lemonade?" "Then sell the lemons and buy a jug of IwHIq." "Not everyone likes Klingon bloodwine either," smiled Jake. "Then those are the ones the Gods have taken a dislike to." "Everything happens for a reason..." Yes, I've heard this said. My best friend utters this phrase about 10 times per conversation. I think it's a way of expressing a couple of universal truths 1) as much as we may try to be, we are not in 100% control of everything that happens in our lives and 2) when life hands you lemons, you have to make lemonade. In other words, it's up to the individual to make the best of whatever comes his/her way - to find the opportunity for a positive outcome presented by the situation.
  • It means you should turn the situation to your advantage and make the best out of what you've got. Of course, I think it would be even better to use them in gin and tonics and perhaps make some lovely chilli and lemon dressing aswell to have with halloumi cheese, or maybe on some salmon. Mmmmmm......
