  • I don't agree
  • Not much of a question but I agree with the statement.
  • Sounds good, but it's completely wrong. You can swim with great white sharks all you like, they will still eat you when they decide to. Regardless of how much you know or don't know about them. Not many fears stem from ignorance.
  • Ignorance is one of the things that breeds fear. Then again, so does knowledge. Using jshm's example, knowing that great white sharks will eat you if they have a mind to, should scare the living shit out of you.
  • I've heard that knowledge is power and I believe that. But Ecclesiastes 1:18 says: 18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. And I've found a lot of situations in which this is true as well. Lester B Pearson, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Bertrand Russell all had quotes similar to what you posted here. a big difference I saw was that the quote I read said "Misunderstanding arising from ignorance breeds fear and fear Remains the greatest enemy of Peace" Lester B Pearson. "Fear always Springs from ignorance" Ralph Waldo Emerson I also found interesting the quote that says "Collective fear stimulates herd Instinct, and tends to produce ferocity towards those who are not regarded as members of The Herd" Bertrand Russell.
  • i think youre right
  • What exactly is your question? Asking opinions is not a question.
    • Roaring
In the sub-heading I asked "Where from?" "Your thoughts?" I actually heard this comment in a movie and was curious as to its origins. Also to see how others hear it.
