  • crushed walnuts, cinnamon, cumin pepper, and grapes or grape juice (maybe red wine?)
  • Vegetta is good to mix in with rice. It gives it a nice flavour.
  • I have used Lipton Recipe Secrets Onion soup and dip mix.I didn't have potatoes so I tried it on rice...liked it alot. But everyone has different taste buds. Couldn't hurt to try it.
  • I like to use vegetable, chicken or beef broth instead of water. Try garlic and cumin (or maybe just chili powder). Or you can mix in about a half cup of salsa. Mushrooms are always good or you can add a can of beans (I like garbanzos). A handful of chopped arugula is excellent.
  • Italian dressing and either chicken or beef base. (or the gravy itself) peppers, onions, mushrooms.
  • 1) On this page you can see some examples of spices which you can use for rice. Some of them could easily be found somewhere else too: http://store.ethnicfoodsco.com/grocery/categoryprod.cfm For instance: Fried Onions, Saffron, Mustard seeds, Cardamom, Red Chili, Turmeric, Cumin, Fennel, Cloves, Curry, Cinnamon, Pepper. 2) You could also look for some recipes using rice as a main component and try them, eventually with some changes. For instance this one: "Spiced Basmati Rice" http://www.spicehunter.com/recipe_details.cfm?&DID=27&Recipe_ID=53 Here are some others: http://www.spicehunter.com/recipe_results.cfm?&DID=27 http://culinaryannotations.blogspot.com/search/label/ingredient:%20Rice Milagu Sadam: http://isouthpotpourri.blogspot.com/2006/05/rasam-rasamwhat-rasamsappidreengala.html http://isouthpotpourri.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html 3) You should be cautious not to use too many different ingredients, because even if they are all good for rice, they do not always harmonize with one another. 4) if you are an addict to ketchup, mayonnaise or all these kinds of readymade things, you could probably eat *anything* with it. I personally do not like to use them.
  • Garlic salt, pepper, butter. Ketchup. If you want a chinese flavor, try a fourth a cup of natural sugar, a fourth of a cup of soy sauce, and a cup of veggie broth with two teaspoons of dissolved in water corn starch. Heat in a sauce pan and pour over rice.
  • We like the taste of cumin...also, Old Bay seasoning and any one of the Cajun seasonings, if you like it spicy. Rice is such a versatile grain. You can also add small pieces of chopped veggies..either fresh or leftovers. :)

  • I love cooking my rice in coconut milk and adding spices to that. You could go savory with cilantro and lime zest or go sweet with cinnamon and nutmeg. I love dried cranberries, apricots and almonds in my rice with cardamom and nutmeg. Or you could saute some mushrooms, pineapple, bokchoy and garlic and adding your rice to that. Add lots of pepper and chili powder. Or a few drops of sriracha sauce.
