  • On this subject, the position of the church is one of neutrality. “While we affirm that God is the Creator and that we are His children, even His offspring (Acts 17:28,29), the official position of the Church on the issue of evolution is entirely neutral. In spite of all the debates and differing opinions that men have held about scientific and religious controversies, the Church takes no official position on how the earth was form or life was reated. Can the evolution of species (or their apparent gradual development over millions of years) jive with the existence of a supreme Creator? We believe all truth must be consistent, and if there is a conflict, something needs to be revised. Brigham Young said, "Our religion embraces all truth and every fact in existence, no matter whether in heaven, earth, or hell. A fact is a fact, all truth issues forth from the Fountain of truth, and the sciences are facts as far as men have proved them" ("Remarks by President Brigham Young, Attending Meetings--Religion and Science--Geology--The Creation," Delivered in the Tabernacle, Salt Lake City, May 14, 1871, Journal of Discourses, 14: 117.) “ http://www.jefflindsay.com/LDSFAQ/science.shtml#evol
  • These can be considered Dinasour LIKE, liv-yaw-thawn' a wreathed animal, that is, a serpent (especially the crocodile or some other large sea monster); figuratively the constellation of the dragon; also as a symbol of Babylon: - leviathan, mourning. be-hay-mohth' a singular of Egyptian derivation: a water ox, that is, the hippopotamus or Nile horse: - Behemoth. But more like Crocodile & Hippo, Common in those parts. Remembering the structure of the langauge was like painting a picture with words, hence John & Daniels Visions & parables. A neutral stand is what doesnt make sense...Not a personal opinion. Its like saying they are not in the Bible so therefore they didn't exist? At least I have a PERSONAL opinion, I think that there is sufficient evidence to say they did exist, Not only that, but they lived here, on this Earth & are not from existing matter used to arrange this Earth as they are found in packs or groups, rather than segments found over great distances. Wether or not they came into existance whist the Earth was in its creative periods & became exstinct before or whist man was Placed in the Garden is an entirely different thing, to me is a far more acceptable answer. When the 1st Presidencey release a stament on the Churchs stand then I will keep my personal opinioon to my self & adopt theirs. But, I think affirmative answer rather than a Neutral answer is more acceptable. Elephants are mention in Scripture & they still exist? & man dominates them as they are not Preditory...But thank you for your intellegent comments in other sections.
  • As a "mormon" I know that dinosaurs existed, we have proof of that in our museums around the world. As for the Church's stance,no idea!
  • MAYBE THE WHEN THE WORLD WAS FORMED it was of different parts of other worlds in the big bang idea and that's how dinosaurs came to be.
  • I believe Alatea is right on this one: to the best of my knowledge, the Church has not taken any position on the dinosaurs. As a Latter-day Saint myself, I think it only logical to believe that they were here, but that‘s about as far as we can go, with what we have.
  • Mormons do not have a position to take because there's nothing that can be said that would be in concert with the dogmas contained in the religion. Therefore, the only position they can take to maintain credibility is to take the stand of neutrality because the whiffs of science only would cause mass exodus for the remaining membership. With proper research, their historicity, archeology, anthropology and theology are certain daggers in their own demise. Jeff Lindsay will say anything to try to keep from damaging one's faith in a religion that I'm quite certain he knows is bogus. Unfortunately he resorts to mental gymnastics in everything he writes because this is what deciphers his next paycheck
  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not have an official stance on dinosaurs. Our Scriptures are silent on the subject, and our eternal salvation does not depend on dinosaurs one way or the other. Brigham Young University in Provo has an extensive collection of dinosaur bones.
  • The LdS Church has no official position on the existence of dinosaurs though there is great speculation in the membership about them and their significance. . Personally I am of the opinion that Zelph was a dinosaur. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zelph
  • I dont know, I steer away from the Morman Church.
  • It does not take one. . The concern of God and of the Church is with the salvation of man. Neither takes a stance in matters with no bearing in that. . The existence of dinosaurs does not. And neither God nor the Church has ever taken a stance about which fork you should eat your salad with.
