  • Butch Lindley was a favorite to win anywhere the Late Model Sportsman cars appeared in the 1970s and 1980s and he scored six Busch Series victories after the Late Model Sportsman cars were renamed as the Busch Grand National Series. Lindley was a two-time champion in the NASCAR Late Model Sportsman Division in 1977-78 He also finished second to Harry Gant at Martinsville Speedway in 1982 in Winston Cup Butch Lindley died from injuries incurred in a short track accident in the mid-1980s.
