  • Fermat's Last Theorm has no known use. Even in mathematics. Excepting that attempts to prove it generated a large volume of mathematical tools that are useful in other branches of mathematics. However, another of Fermat's theorems is Fermat's "little" theorem, which says that if a is a non-negative integer and p a prime, then a^p == a (mod p). In English: If you raise a to the power of a prime p and then subtract a, the result will be a multiple of p. Fermat's little theorem is used heavily in modern cryptography and has many other applications.
  • As far as real-life applications of Fermat's Little Theorem,it is in the "construction of very secure secret codes, so-called public key cryptosystems, used in information transfer in banking and ATM machines." But Fermat's Little Theorem is different from Fermat's Last theorem. Fermat was a lawyer in France.
