  • It depends on how you define "Christianity". The oldest books of the new testament were written in about the year 80-100 AD, after everyone involved in Christ's life or with first hand experience of Christ had died. Emperor Constantine called the Council of Nicea in 325 AD, which is when the Bible was first put together: picking some ancient scrolls to include, and abandoning other ancient scrolls, almost arbitrarily. This was also the beginning of the Catholic Church, NOT St Peter. Protestants might say Christianity did not begin till Martin Luther, in October 31, 1517, nailed "The 95 Theses" to the door of his church. The American Christian Fundamentalist movement did not begin till about the 1930's, and rose to power with men like Jerry Fallwell in the 1980's. This is where we get the concepts of Biblical literalism and inerrancy. So, by the modern definition that the most vocal Christians consider to be Christianity, it is only about 70-80 years old.
  • Dunno but you get points for an interesting question!
  • Jesus and the original disciples/apostles considered themselves Jewish, not Christian. I would say that Christianity became a religion separate from Judaism when the "good news" was being preached to the Gentiles and the debate was raging on whether those believers had to convert to Judaism first. Once there was a faith community that followed Jesus as the "Son of God", but wasn't Jewish -- ta da! -- Christianity.

  • At the fall, it was from that moment on God's purpose to save a people. He illustrated the way through the OlD testament and then brought about through the birth, sacrificial death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ as revealed in the New Testament.
  • iT START3D ABOUT 2000 YEARS AGO THAT ALL I KNOW THAT WHAT I FOUND OUT ON MY REPORT
  • Shortly after jesus died. The Jews needed a way to control the people that had converted. Christianity is simply a manufactured lesser sect of judiasim that was under the same laws created by the same people that sent their God to His death. I believe it all began in the sun blinded eye of Constantine!
  • started with Paul I believe 20 years A.D. so roughly 2000 years ago we don't know a specific date.
  • if you want to be specific. christianity was a continuation or branch of of Judaism. named christian meaning christ-like so people that wanted to be like christ so after jesus came along. and judaism has been around since forever. they cant find an exact date from which it began. bc we dont have any records of a time where judaism didnt exist in at least one colony or records that someone had created. so if you count that christianity was a continuation of judaism it has been around since before any records existed. no one knows when it first started. it was one of the first relgions and it is the longest lasting religion.

  • Christianity started around the time before the renessiance, and before the black plaque. Before they started building churchs alot of women were "witchs" which is what the church named the wise women also known as healers back in the day. The wise women healed people in ways that was unexplainable. Therefore the church/preists declared that they were allies of the new found satan and that they were evil. Churches were build over sacred goddess temples, and 6 million women were killed for fear of them being a witch.
  • Can't take the 'Christ' out of Christianity yo...
  • Unknown and too indistinct to get a toehold. Define christianity. Even then you've got problems. One could say that Mithras has more to do with Christianity than many Christians would care to admit. http://www.jesusneverexisted.com/Mithraism.html I would say between 50 and 70 A.D. but then, True Christianity died when Paul commandeered it. http://www.solhaam.org/articles/origin.html

  • The Christian faith began when the Lord Jesus began preaching during the late 20's AD. The Bible was kept together as the Textus Recptus until the 1500's when Martin Luther made a translation of it. Bofore then the corrupted Alexandrian verison was used.
