  • It has nothing to do with card counting as the same number of cards remain invisible to all players. It, I think, is only a formality designed to reduce the chance that someone saw the top card. It doesn't affect the probabilities in any way because, since the deck isn't used in its entirety, it is exactly the same as if the burned cards were on the bottom of the deck to begin with and the dealer didn't burn any cards.
  • No nothing - those are burn cards and they are essential to running a clean game. Should an error occur the burn cards become very important.
