  • I honestly Do not know. I work for a company that refers people to different online colleges and they are one of them. They are supposedly fully accredited, and some of the people I talk to on the phone say they already have a degree from them and they loved the expirience and having their degree. Honestly though, I have never talked to anyone in person that has a degree from them.I think it just depends on the person. People are more likely to hire you if you have a degree from a more prestigious university though
  • They are fully accredited, as is their degree. Many, if not most, colleges and universities offer life experience credits. You can take Clep tests even if you aren't enrolled in a College or University. So, when it comes down to it, the main thing that matters is the reputation and credibility of the institution. You will have a valid, accredited degree, though.
  • I was about to embark upon the treacherous journey of online education, but my instincts and propensity for being overly cautious have prompted me to do an intense investigation of the posasibilities that the whole concept of UoP is a scam. having put into the search engine the inquest "University of Phoenix scam", a number of links came up, one of which was a 21 page documentation of negative feedback. I don't know if it is a scam, but from the evidence of the negative feedback, I definitely feel compelled to hold off any decision about on-line education through a "for profit" institution with this record of complaints. Look for yourself and render your own judgment. Do the search as I have and review the complaints. They all run through the same vein.
  • Accreditation is a technical requisite to back up claims of legitimacy. Certificates are good if they are deliverable. The problems arise when the process is compromised by fraud, misrepresentation, or lack of communication. As I alluded to in an earlier response, check references and check the experiences of former and current students. For example, refer to www.consumeraffairs.com/education/phoenix.html - 61k - Cached or www.consumeraffairs.com/education/phoenix_easya.html These sites speak for themselves. You be the judge.
  • I suppose that I will have to find that out for myself. I am currently taking UOP classes and they seem to be somewhat a challenge. I have been reading all the bad with the good. To be honest with all of you i believe that you can get a good or bad education anywhere, whether this be a land or online school. The main worries that I have is not if the college is full accredited. I want to know if I have qualified instructors that do not hate their jobs!! Do I think I am being screwed? I think the price per class is crazy, but if I get a proper education I think it will be worth it.
  • I am not concerned about UOP being accredited. I have been through the ringer with them on this issue and know they are. Former experiences from other students I can't consider because from what I have seen is gloom and doom. I just want qualified instructors.
  • I've just got accepted into the Unversity of Phoenix. My first though was to research them. My wife seem to be kinda worried that they are a scam. But they aren't. And as far as a job is concern to hire someone from a prestigious university. I would agree to only if the employer was in the private sector. Public sector only view the requirement degree to get the job. Hardly do they care from whom the degree comes from. Also like to mention that the pay in the public sector do know match well with the private sector, but if you get in with the public sector for 3 to 5 years and then head into the private sector, this could help you.
  • its not a scam, but you are basically paying for a degree.
  • I have recently been taking classes here as well, the bad press is sort of worrying me, but the comprehensive classes ive taken so far have been incredibly through in time demand as well as skill level. I will not settle for good i have to do my best in things i do, the only school that fit my schedule was online. I will not know till its all over if it was a mistake but i do know that i work for an investigations company who is directly contracted by the gov't to do backround checks and they offer tuition reimbersment plans and the University of phoenix was one of the schools they invited to the college fair. i think some of the bad press could be they seem to take anyone as long as you can pay. but not everyone can hack the hard classes and have to drop out.I also have read numerous reports of it being very hard to walk away from them clean, they try to bill you for things and take away your financial aide and shift you around. So if your going to give them a shot do not do so lightly, be sure your going to finish.
