I recently went to a Brand New concert in Norfolk, VA. Jesse Lacey said the song was about "a girl whose life was taken way too early in a limousine." He then stated that was as far as he could delve into the meaning of the song because it means a lot to him. "We found your man, He's drinking up, he's all american And he'll drive, he's volunteered with grace to end your life." - Drunk Driver "And in the choir, I saw a sad messiah He was bored and tired of my laments Said, 'I'd die for you one time, but never again'" -This is in reference to Jesus Christ. He died for his sins once, but won't ever do it again. As far as the count from 1-7, I'm not sure behind the meaning. I personally would love to find it out, but I doubt Jesse will be telling anytime soon.

Yes so far youve been correct about all the information and meaning behind the song. The band is originally from Long Beach, NY so in '05 the accident happened in their hometown. The 7 year old is Katie Flynn, he refrences to "kay" in another song. The count to 7 is the number of years she lived, "one will love you so much" etc. The lyric where it refrences head in my hands and your smiling, is because Katie was decapitated and her mother held her head on the side of the rode as the ambulance removed the rest of the family from the crash site. The first portion of the song from her mothers point of view and the second where it starts "hey you beauty supreme" is from the drunk drivers about his own personal life. It obviously has to do with a women or a failed relationship in which sent him on a wild night of drinking. Jesse's personal connection to Katie Flynn is what I'd like to know.
