  • When you say local, you mean the same room or house? then yes you can, providing you will use the same subnet mask( just keep the one the setup software provide you with, and give each box its own IP). The hub has a distance limitation as well as the distance limitation for CAT5 in an Ethernet network is 100 meters(325'). The distance limitation for an Ethernet over fiber cable is 2000 meters if you want to go that far, fiber is king. It is a good idea to use a Router/Hub unit to setup the net work, just to reduce traffic collision and smother operation. These devices are cheap as well. I hope that was of help 2u.
  • You dont need Broadband connection if you want to conect local PS2 together, all you have is network cable ( cross for direct ps2 to ps2 - normal for ps2 to hub) ps2 network adapter Memory card to save the network setting. Then u must configure the ps2 network through the ps2 cd network configuration. when i purchase my ps2 the cd didnot came with it, so i find it the ps2 network configuration in a game called CONFLICT. configure the ps2 network as you configure PC for LAN, i used the following configuration. First PS2 IP 192.168.0.1 subnet 255.255.255.0 Router 192.168.0.1 Second ps2 IP 192.168.0.2 subnet 255.255.255.0 Router 192.168.0.1 and so on I have tried this configuration on CONFLICT and Colin Mcrally 2005, it works gr8. now 4 to 32 player can play together with 4 ps2 on 4 TV in my shop :) Note: I search the internet for 4 days in order to know how to make 4 ps2 works on lan, but i didnot find a clear answer. although it was very easy answer. hope this helps who seeks.
