  • It shouldn't! Due to the inflammation there is damage to the blood-milk barrier. As a consequence, the pH of the milk approaches the pH of blood plasma. This means the pH of the milk in cases of mastitis is often 7.2 to 7.4, whereas normal milk usually has a pH of 6.4-6.8.
