The answer to this question is changing all the time, as new users sign up daily. The best way to find out how many users there are is to check out the statistics on the top right of the main answerbag page. Here you can see how many registered users contribute to AB, how many validated questions and answers there are, etc.
-
That's interesting. I don't know you because I am new. How did you get the facts?
-
River_Stones is correct on the number of accounts. Certainly some of these are "sock puppets" (duplicate accounts used for usually nefarious purposes), and some are accounts that were created and then rapidly abandoned. The real question I think is "how many users are ACTIVE on the 'bag". I think you'd have to ask the admins that question -- I'm guessing there are probably about 500..3000 active users. This is a gut guess based only on personal experience and hand waving.
-
This is what I have heard: -100,000. But probably 1,000 active accounts. http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/105260
-
I was told 100,000 but about 1,000 active members i asked the question the other day I cannot guarentee that is correct but it came from a normally very reliable member
-
MANY mANY MANY
-
See this Question: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/112352
-
I was told that actual registration world wide is about 100,000. but the ACTIVE members probably total about 10,000. if this is true or not i do not know rankings seem to start at 1,000 Confused, me too
-
There are around 10,000. Some are not active, some are. It varies greatly. There could be 1,000 active, but it is always changing. I'd say about 150,000 though, of now.
-
Well, you just joined today and are member 125,271, so about that many. No, it doesn't compete with the number of users Yahoo has, but it makes up for it in the quality of the people and answers found here.
-
I believe the estimate is something like 150,000 and of course this is ever increasing. We may not top Yahoo answers in numbers, but I believe we top them in community spirit and quality of answers and questions. Plus the staff here are more attractive (love you guys ;))
-
Yahoo Answers isn't as complete as Answerbag. At Answerbag we're a community and not any regular Joe Schmo looking for answers on topics such as "Why are egg shells white?" I'm joking, but to answer the question, it doesn't top Yahoo, and I actually prefer it this way because we know eachother on a more personal level. That's more admirable than the 60 million people that Yahoo has to offer.
-
over 120,000
-
I would say at least 100,000. MOST of them are not active, but they have all signed on at one time or another.
-
I recall the "Maestro" stating just before his answercide (that was thankfully resurrected) that the number was just over 150,000 (and not all active). I have no idea how accurate that is though.
-
The active member ship at any one time is said by Joel to be about 10,000 actually registered in the mid 130-50 thousand
-
I have to confess....
-
probably thousands. I would guess.
-
120,000 accounts. less than that of course are active.
-
1000+
-
Well you are member number 126092 so there are at least that many, but I suppose that many folks are of the 'inactive' sort.
-
well the rank goes to 1000 so at least 1000. I have to agree with lippycow...alot.
-
There are about 140,000 accounts. Of course, many of these are inactive, sock puppets, etc. Only the AB staff can tell how many users are actually active, and they're not talking.
-
about 25000
-
Taking your user ID into account, more than 137760... More than 146760 and less than 147760.
-
300+. I doubt thousands go on. It's usually always the same people and some beginners and anonymous.
-
Alot

1) I just assumed that the profile numbers were rising with time, starting with 1. You can make a little check to verify this (compare the "Member Since:" value of two different ids) For instance, this is the staff member "Default", and he was created on May 22, 2003: http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=1 2) There were 170,796 members on Juli 5. (German time) I could see this because I found someone with following profile: http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=170796 At that time, there was nobody with following profile: http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=170797 That profile had no name and no activity. As you read this answer, probably you must go a little further. ------ ADDED (Update) ----- Here the dates where some number of users were reached: 100000: Nov 19, 2006; http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=100000 200000: Oct 01, 2007; http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=200000 300000: Feb 24, 2008; http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=300000 400000: Jun 17, 2008; http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=400000 500000: Aug 20, 2008; http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=500000 600000: Oct 13, 2008; http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=600000 700000: Nov 28, 2008; http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=700000 800000: Jan 11, 2009; http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=800000 900000: Mar 09, 2009; http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=900000
-
our community of over 156,000 will find your answer! this it what it says just before you sign it
-
I know that there are over 150,000 accounts, some are not used that much though.
-
I think "Ads by Google" knows the answer.
-
About 100,000. Yeah that's right, do the math.
-
180535, as of right now. Not all active users, of course. EDIT: It has been a few weeks since I first posted (August 6th) and there are now (Aug. 25) 186540. Just over 6 thousand in a few weeks? Not bad at all.
-
probably 150-500 members. just estimating. maybe more than 500.
-
I don't know for sure, but I recall reading a stat here within the past week saying that there were approximately 175,000 members. That may include anyone who ever signed up. If I can find where I read it, I'll post a link. edited to add: found it! http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/377627
-
uuh...a few too many. There may be many people, but often, quite a few are not active. they sign up and forget about it...
-
I believe it has over 150,000 accounts.
-
On a more current update, Answerbag has a over 190,000 registered users on this website. However, with so many users registered, there are only about 2,000 current active members, with some new ones coming and old ones leaving.
-
good amount i bet
-
mabey like a thousands.
-
As of now, 1:21:03 there are 241944. I think the number at the end of a user's profile is means that's what user they are. http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/1875862
-
From something I read the other day 175,000 members. Obviously all not active at one time.
-
The numbers are increasing every day. To find out how many users are there. Just go to any user's profile. Then, at the address bar, you can check and change the number. Last time I checked, there were over 240,000 members.
-
BIG rumour some of the stalwarts are leaving 'cos of "Political Reasons..!"
-
I heard it about 175,000.
-
My guess is about 277,530: http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=277530
-
Answerbag has about 175,000 members.
-
10,000? 175,000? Ridiculous numbers. New members get IDs in the 250 thousands, but most of the members never returned. Just watch it for a while, and also the leaderboard, and you quickly see that there are no more than maybe 100 really active members around. You can manage to get in the top 1000 VERY easily, so 1000 would be the absolute maximum of active users.
-
Who cares? Of the few who are active a few also have brains.
-
G'day ScholarA+Heart, Thank you for your question. There are thousands of members in total. How many are on at any moment varies depending on the time of the day. Regards
-
There's you, and me, that's two already, and that's almost a crowd.
-
425,632 as of the time this was posted.
-
It is just under half a million. 440,000 and some change.
-
So many come, so many go.
-
Put your patch on and get back to your school work.
-
A lot..
-
According to what AB says on the homepage, there are currently 579,000 members. But I think there are only 1,000 really active members (those that log on at least once a week). EDIT: Screenshot added to answer BD's question.
-
Seems like there are not that many active members, I think I know everybody already...
-
Lets count, we'll start with me. One.. and there's you... two...
-
665,118. Look at the id in the url for this user's profile, and keep going up: http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=665118
-
You can start with Rudeboy's answer but you must subtract out duplicates and inactive users. Also, make sure the user id's don't start at a non-zero number. For instance, they may start at 100,000 (or not).
-
I would assume that it is around 650,000.
-
There is no way to accurately tell, but each day several thousand users are on site during the day. There are almost 700,000 total members over the years but many of those were one time users or n3ever bothered to use the site at all. And many people have left, or were removed, like thousands of spammers who try their hand here.
-
There are now over 893,000 registered accounts at AB.
-
893,000+ as of the moment this was posted (on 3/4/2009). with new members every few minutes. i found this out using the formula that the member "iwnit" posted on Jul 5, 2007.
-
In my view, the correct answer seems to be one zillion.
-
uhh drug users?
-
I heard that the other day, there were over 100,000 people here as members.WoW,huh?:)*+++++*
-
Counting you....ummmmmmmmmm....lets see.....I guess....ummmm.....1 million and 1. lol I don't know for sure but there has to be at least a million! +5
-
good question.. ive ben tthinking how many are online..
-
Just over 1,040,000 today. It's on the front page before you log in. As for actve members, a whole heap less than that, but getting busier every day!
-
I think somewhere around 1.1 million.
-
As of right now, there have been 1,124,424 since AB started. How I got this: The number at the end of any user's profile url is the number user they are. These numbers start at 1, and I'm not sure where they end. I typed in an arbitrarily large number, saw that there was no "member since" date, and made the number smaller. It took me about three minutes to narrow it down to the exact number of users at this moment.
