The Christian faith has a history almost 2,000 years old, and many leaders have come and gone. Some of the leaders of Christianity are living today, but even those who are no longer alive today are followed by Christians.
Jesus Christ
Christianity started with Jesus and continues with him. Christians believe first and foremost on his teachings, not even as a historical figure but as a spiritual character who lives in individuals' hearts.
The Apostle Paul
A biblical figure, Paul was the first person (after Christ) to valiantly spread the message of Christianity. The Christian church today is based upon many of the words of Paul.
Martin Luther
Protestant Christianity started with Martin Luther. He was the proponent of all Christianity that breaks from Catholic tradition.
Saint Augustine
The major proponent of Western Christianity, much of current Christian theology and doctrine came from the works of Saint Augustine of Hippo. His "Confessions" are vital reading for all serious Christians.
Rick Warren
In contemporary times, Christian leaders are often associated with politics. The most respected Christian in America today is Rick Warren, author of "The Purpose Driven Life."
