  • With all of your life and memories saved on your Pocket PC, throwing it away after the battery wears out seems like a horrible idea. And, to tell the truth, it really is. After investing so much money into a Pocket PC, to merely through it out would be ludicrous and, unbeknownst to many, unsafe. So what is there to do with an old Pocket PC that has no life and little value? While the possibilities are slim, there are many that could help your piece of mind and pocket book.

    Replacing the Battery

To find a replacement battery, while costly, is simple and will continue life on the device. The hardest part is to find a battery, though. Some resources that normally have batteries for these machines are online auctions and PPCTechs.com. You will need your product name and model number in order to find the exact battery for your Pocket PC. Many of these devices only have aftermarket batteries available due to company's closing and models discontinued. However, many of these work just as well, if not better, than the factory battery. Longer battery life, better power integration and a prolonged charge of the battery itself are all common in third-party batteries.

    Recycling

Head to your local electronics store and see what options they have for electronic recycling. Most stores will have a bin, or a customer service representative who will help in the process of getting rid of the devices. Some smaller shops or environmentally conscious larger stores may even give you a discount inside the store for getting rid of your device this way. The reason it is better to take your Pocket PC to a recycling center for the devices is because simply throwing them out can harm the environment due to the lead and mercury inside the tiny machine.
