<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: They Do Work
Hair straightening serums work by coating the strands, relaxing the curl and making the hair more malleable to styling. Many are meant to be applied to damp, just-washed hair, before it dries and begins to curl. The hair is then styled---either blown out with a blow dryer or flat-ironed.
On the Other: Some Conditions May Affect Effectiveness
If your hair is very coarse and tightly curled, the straightening serum may not be as effective on you. Also, humidity plays a big role in how long the product stays effective. If it is humid, your hair gets wet or you perspire, your style may not hold, as sweat or water may rinse out the serum or break the style.
Bottom Line
Straightening serums do work, under optimal conditions. If you do use one, you would need to take care that your hair does not get wet or you don't get into humid conditions.
