Microsoft Works

You should be able to open the vast majority of .wps files in Microsoft Works Word Processor. If you have Works installed on your PC, but the file does not automatically open when double-clicked, your Windows registry may be damaged and in need of cleaning.

Opening .wps Files in MS Word

Some versions of Word can open Works documents and other cannot. If you own Microsoft Office, but not a copy of Works, you may be able to open .wps files. If not, you can use converter software freely available online to turn the Works document into a .doc file.

Kingsoft Office

Another program that uses the .wps extension is Kingsoft Office. Kingsoft is a Microsoft Office-compatible suite of applications, and is capable of opening .wps files.

Rockbox

Rockbox is an open-source firmware replacement for MP3 players. Visual themes for the "What's Playing" screen uses the .wps file extension, but such files should not be confused with Works documents.

Painkiller Overdose

A first-person shooter sequel to the highly successful game Painkiller, Painkiller Overdose uses the extension .wps for its game files. These also are not compatible with Microsoft Works.
