The old theory that everyone should drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day should be considered the bare minimum for water consumption. A better suggestion is to drink 1/2 ounce of water for every pound of body weight. For example, a 150-pound person should drink 75 ounces of plain water. If anything with caffeine is consumed, that same amount in water should be added.
