  • alright i got a laundry list for this one. anything and everything by Akira Kurosawa, especially Rashomon, which pretty much invented it Janusz Kaminski's work in Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan Apocalypse Now Lost in translation Brokeback mountain Thin red line Delicatessen The City of Lost Children Magnolia Nosferatu Weekend by Godard, of just about anything from the french moment in the 40's if you can get past the stupid storyline, Terrance Mallick's Days of Heaven was gorgeous opening shot in Touch of Evil just about anything David Fincher touches looks beautiful: Fight Club, Seven, Stigmata most of Kubricks films, those hallway shots on The Shining top three though: 2001: A Space Odyssey even though theres hardly any dialogue, Baraka and Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris
  • Definitely Christopher Doyle's work on Hero. Se7en (shot by Darius Khondji) Saving Private Ryan (shot by Janusz Kaminski who has just done the new Indiana Jones) The Last Witness (Korean film) Dark City (shot by Dariusz Wolski who has done the upcoming Sweeny Todd movie for Tim Burton)
  • Melies was the first brilliant one. Anything by Tim Burton post-1992.
  • "Once Upon a Time in The West", "The Third Man", "Lord of The Rings".
  • The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford looks beautiful.. as does most other stuff by Roger Deakins... Most stuff like Hero and House of Flying Daggars... Harris Savides does great work in my opinion... there are so many, but i'm just going to stick with Jesse James for now...
  • koyaanisqatsi. i also loved baraka, chronos, painted veil, dances with wolves, lawrence of arabia, crouching tiger hidden dragon, out of africa, legends of the fall, english patient, gladiator, braveheart, saving private ryan, the lord of the rings fellowship of the ring, the new world, the sheltering sky, touching the void, the piano, jurassic park, any of the planet earth series ... they all ignite my wanderlust.
