  • you cannot miss that which you do not believe in
  • it seems to me they must be blind. how can anyone not see the grandeur and awesomeness of this world and most of its people and the love, love, love, that makes the world go round.
  • Your question doesn't make sense because atheists don't believe in a lord in the first place, so technically we're not missing anything.
  • I CHERISH the idea of invisible men with beards. So every christmas I celebrate the birthday of the greatest one of all: Santa Claus.
  • Damn! I knew there was somebody missing from the membership of the dating service that I joined. Even if he is a member though, I would have missed him because I only looked through the female part of the memberships.
  • Most atheists take a lot of time and trouble over their conclusions about creation and belief. Your question makes no sense, really - are Christians aware of what they are missing because they aren't Jews?
  • Yes they are. Most atheist that I know lead hateful, unfulfilled lives. They fight a lot with others, and they have so much anger bottled up inside them. My best friend was an atheist. She was so mixed up because her family was all atheists and they all were very negative bunch of ppl. They fought and distrusted everyone. She converted over to my religion. It took some time, but her life began to get better. Life was more fun now and she open herself up and let good ppl in. She is very happy.
  • As an atheist I am aware of the idea of the "love of the Lord," but I don't miss it because I don't beleive it (or he) exists.
  • Obviously, no. If we were aware of some immaterial spiritual Love of the Lord we would either be Christians or crack addicts. Sorry, that's a cheap shot, but if you really feel some overwhelmng spirituality that fills your soul with joy whenever you think of God, well, that's nice and all, but I don't. So asking this is kind of pointless. You're asking something atheists have no grounding in and fellow theists will have a hard time answering because they can't really speak for atheists with any authority. They might try to, but if I were you I wouldn't put much stock in it.
  • Oh yes we are aware that we are, supposedly, "missing love of the lord". And as far as I can tell the only difference it makes is that instead of doing the wrong thing and expecting "god" to make it right, we go ahead and do the right thing to begin with *and* of our own volition. See, we live in the world without an almighty safety net. Try it sometime. Very freeing.
  • I think every human being is spiritually 'aware' of what they are missing, simply because we were created with a desire to answer to that love. That is the reason why you'll never ever find native tribes that are atheistic: everyone has the drive to seek (a) god. But atheists clearly have reasoned and explained this drive and therefor ignore it. They simply live their lives and acredit the rotten empty feeling to the harsh reality of life, and sometimes even boast in their ability to ignore it. Perhaps the crankiness of some of them can be explained by this :P
  • I don't "miss" the love of the lord. However, I am jealous of people who can suspend reaity and have that comfort in their life. It would be really nice to think that my brother who passed away was looking out for me, but I believe that at best he is in a dreamless sleep providing sustenance for the earth.
  • I beleve in God, but I do not belive he does not love atheists, he loves every human being. They do not belive in God, but they can save themselves from false spirtals such as 'you will be save if you give me this' which is a possitve for their side.
  • I'm not missing the love of any deity. I simply don't have the illusion that I am loved by a deity. I wouldn't say I miss it. It really has no effect whatsoever.
  • Spiritual speaking... ...you can't miss what you don't appreciate.
  • No offense but this is really a stupid question that has probably been asked millions of times and no one seems to get it is purely opinion, so why ask except to start unnecessary controversy? Furthermore, even a religious person (whatever religion: Christianity, Hinduism, etc.) could believe their God (or Gods) does/do not love them, so why ask if simply atheists are missing this "love". Lastly, if they have never felt the "love" to begin with how could they miss it (referring to life-long atheists)? Even If a religious person becomes an atheist it is by their choice, for reasons they see as worthy - i do not believe an atheist (formerly religious or not) would "miss" the love of God(s). If they did, they would not be an atheist and/or most likely become; if they have not already, a religious person (again or for the first time), instead of living with a constant longing for the love of a higher power - as you have put it. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, despite what you may think - based on the fact you actually asked this question to begin with.
  • I love friends and life. That's good enough for me, and if God's real, prolly what he put me on Earth for, instead of hating my fellow men because they don't agree with whatever bullshit makes me feel better about my pathetic existence.
  • No, I was totally unaware of it until you pointed it out to me. Thank you! Rest now Christian soldier.
  • No, because they don't believe in The Lord or anyone else.
  • what is your religion? I need to give you Sh** for YOUR beliefs. Learn to be tolerant!
  • Some of us are aware of what we are missing. I was a theist once, I know what it was like, and I know what my life is like now. I know exactly what I'm missing.
  • In answer to your question, I would have to ask, "Do you believe in Santa Claus?" If you don't, do you miss his love?
  • Spiritualy speaking, the question does not make sense. If you are refering to a Lord like the one found in the Bible, for instance, then you would be defining God as a separate entity - one that is above us and detached from our awarness, a supernatural being. Athiests do not believe in a God, or Gods, as defined by any major religion. In spirituality, the common decription of God is that of an unbounded conscious awarness, found within each and every person. "God" is your true idenitity, or so they say. So, spiritualy speaking, you cannot "miss" God, because you cannot miss that witch what you already ARE. It would be like missing your own nose, or your bones, or your thoughts (assuming you are alive and you still have all of these things). Everyone is aware of thier own conscious existence, even if only a little bit. So you cannot really "miss" God, even if you are an Athiest.
  • The LOVE of the Lord. Is THAT which inspires Christians to go into Churches and shoot folks they don't like? Is THAT which allows them to start wars over silly notions? Is THAT which allows them to deny healthcare to someone else? I think that as an Atheist, I'm doing much better without it. thank-you-very-much.
  • You mean, that lord that says "idolise me or I will be forced to send you to a place of eternal torment for all ...erm... eternity! Sorry, I have no choice. I don't make the rules. Oh, hang on, I do make the rules, but I'm keeping that one because I like it..."? That lord? No thanks...
  • Reread your definition of Atheist and you'll understand the obscurity of your question. . P.S arrogant Christians like you make yourself and others in your religion look bad. Keep it up.
  • lol your question made me laugh, its like asking your religious people: do christains realize their worshiping a fiction book written by who knows who?
  • Yes. I'm also missing: Love of Santa. Love of Quetzalcoatl. Love of Odin. Love of Allah. Love of Aphrodite (now that's one I could get into for a while too - DAMN!) Love of Puff the Magic Dragon. Love of Tinkerbell. Love of an imaginary friend. What I am not missing, and I bet you are, is love of truth, rational thought, and reason. And that makes the love of my family that much more special. +5
  • Ah, bless.
  • Logically speaking how can we miss the love of someone we do not believe in..... Really anil your questions are becoming somewhat predictable and wholly repetitive...so no points for you until you come up with a question unrelated to the ability of atheists to be real people leading satisfying and rewarding lives whilst not believing in the same things as you!
  • Of course not, otherwise they wouldn't be atheists.
  • Back when I was a Christian, I didn't feel much love from anywhere.
  • Spiritually speaking: are you aware of what you are missing? Love of Sanity!
  • Spiritually speaking, they aren't. God loves everyone, right?
  • I can go without the love of the lord thank you very much, I'm not so weak spirited that i rely on an imaginary omnipotent figure when things get tough.
  • I was a christian and I can say without a doubt that the "Love of the Lord," isn't very impressive once you realize true love, love of your fellow man.
  • I wonder if God (Lord) believers are aware of the fact that they believe in a fictional character?
