<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Check the Owner's Manual
The ideal amount of air pressure for individual motorcycle tires is determined by the manufacturers. You can find their recommendations in your owner's manual. This will usually be around from 30 to 40 pounds per square inch for large bikes, with somewhat more pressure in the rear tire.
On the Other: Adjust for the Situation
The manufacturer recommendations are by no means absolute rules. In fact, it is advisable to increase or decrease the pressure in your tires depending on the situation and type of riding you will be doing. When you know you are going to have a heavier load, you should increase your pressure by 2 to 4 psi. Do the same when you will be riding on rocky, uneven terrain.
Bottom Line
Do not go over the maximum pressure indicated on the side of the tire. Over time, your tires can lose pressure, so be sure to check them frequently, especially if they lose more than 2 psi each month.
