  • In my experience, using speaker wire larger than 14 AWG is a waste. On the other hand, I've never wired up a big thumping subwoofer, nor do I play my music that loud. From the AWG specification chart, it seems 10 AWG would be big enough to handle almost anything you have planned. http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm Also, given the relatively short runs you'll be using, the cost difference should not be that great between 10 gauge and 14 gauge.
