No. God happened when human beings became aware that they were actually part of a larger phenomenon called nature. Except ancient men did not know what nature really is so they came up with a model to explain it

Either way you look at it, time started with the start of the universe so there is no such thing (that we know of) as "before" the universe, whether or not you believe in a god

If you assume that the universe was created you have to have a creator. By definition that creator would be God (or would have it/him/herself been created by God. . If the universe was not created, as Happy 1 suggests, then God need not exist before, after or at all.
