I think it's bunch, and I have heard people in the UK use twist.
-
Both are perfectly acceptable. In the UK the preferred form is "Don't get your knickers in a twist"
-
hmmm... I've also heard "don't get yer knickers in a bind."
-
Don't get your knickers in a twist is all I've ever heard.
-
Ive always heard it as dont get yer panties in a twist.
-
In England, it's "don't get your knickers in a twist."
-
I don't know, but I'm English and we say 'Don't get your knickers in a twist' in Britain :) Always makes me chuckle! No idea of the origin, however.
-
"Don't get your panties in a wad". :-) +5

The correct term is "wad". Other areas of the world use different phrases. The saying originated in a carnival sideshow in Iowa when a contortionist twisted herself into a position she couldn't get out of.
-
Wad is a funnier word than bunch. I prefer that one.
