That I was in the special forces and killed people. Something I am not proud of at all. But the choice was kill or be killed . my kids still do not know, they think I wasa a bartender in an officers club.

Well. I don't have any kids, but there's a ton of things I wouldn't want them to know. Although, I don't think keeping secrets would be healthy, either.

They have the mistaken impression that I am a knowledgeable man. I wouldn't want them to know that I am just another illiterate about most things in this world. I wouldn't really want to fall from the high pedestal I stand in their view. I have maintained the facade for almost 3 decades. Why fall now?

Anyone who answers a question like this in a public forum is asking for trouble. One of the first rules about keeping secrets is never to reveal them to anyone, especially in a public forum. So, if you don't want your children to find out something about yourself, then don't share that something in a public place. This being the case, I am going to follow my own advice with respect to this question.

I am pretty much an open book for my daghter. But she doesn't need to know that her dad and me had a rocky marriage at the beginning. We are fine now. She has a family, she loves us, and that is all what counts. :)

We have only one Daughter and she has known Everything about our preferences pretty much all her life having discovered us when she was 7. Children are More Observent than the parents think and see more so you need to ask questons ALL the time to keep up with them!

Nothing really, it's not that I haven't done anything out of accepted social behavior. I just feel that they should know the truth and even doing 'bad' things doesn't make you a bad person. I don't necessarily want them to know the intimate details of some of the things that I have done or the thoughts behind them, but the actions themselves are explainable if not justifiable.

No. If I ever have children, they will know almost everything about me (both the good and the bad).

I do not have any children, but I would be an open book to their questions about any subject. I have done a lot and seen a lot of things in my life, to not share them with my children.
