My Sharp microwave display blinks "8888" & the keypad doesn't work. Anyone have any suggestions?

How old is the microwave ? It might be CHEAPER or as cheap to just go ahead and buy another microwave than to try and "Fix' this old one ..

unplug it, wait 1 minute, plug it back in. Still blinking? Time to go shopping.

Your clock is either broken or possessed. Have you tried unplugging the microwave for awhile then plugging it back in? Some appliances with clocks have short-term memory to retain time in case there is a black out so if you plug it in right after you unplug it, it will still show the incorrect time. Try leaving unplugged for an hour then plugging it in. In case it is possessed, call an Exorcist.

Apparently you have had a power interruption at your place recently. Check to see if there is some way to reset your microwave and change the clock to the current time.
