I would say its because people report them more in the USA, I would say thousands of women are raped in war torn countries but who would they report it to? Also the figures you have provided are a total, of course there will be more rapes in a country with a larger population compared to countries with smaller populations.

It's because women dare to report it.In many nations things are not reported due to some reasons or other like social status and feeling of rejection from own(that happens). It's a free nation and women are advanced enough to fight against the evil and render a deserving punishment to the criminal.It's just how it is seen.

Because this is one of the only countries where it is not a crime to report it, or cause a negative stigma so bad the shame it brings on your family, is worse than the rape. We have no honor or foolish pride here. So we actually report it!

I didn't know we were on top of that list. My guess is that everything in our culture screams sex all the time. Porn consumption of every kind is through the roof. I only offer this as a guess, I really don't know.

I would think that the countries where woman still don't have any rights, would have a higher rape rate. Rape probably doesn't get reported in those places, so there is nothing to compare to.

Did you take into consideration the population in the US versus the smaller countries with lower rates? If not the study is skewed.

I don't think that the US has the highest rates of rape worldwide. I do, however, think that it is easier to report rape in the US than in some other countries. For example, in some places in the middle east, if a woman reports a rape, she must have a damn good explanation as to why she was where she was when the rape occurred, otherwise she will be whipped. She'd better have an explanation as to why she was with the man/men she was with, otherwise, she will be whipped. She had also better have 4 or 5 adult male witnesses who can testify that her rape was indeed a rape, otherwise she will be whipped, or possibly stoned, for being a whore. Consequently, rapes are often not reported, or are reported as adultery in countries like this.
