  • If you bit and chewed your tongue into little pieces (as though you were eating it), the salivary enzymes would have an effect as the coating of the tongue would not remain intact. Also, enzymes in the mouth only start the digestion process, the real digestion is done in the stomach with acid and much stronger enzymes.
  • Saliva? The tongue is tough enough to withstand worse things.
