im not sure how true this is, but i read somewhere that the character that marlon brando plays in the godfather is loosley based on a real life italian mob-boss, who has only just been captured after about 30 years or so on the run. the police who captured him actually wore balaclavas to protect their indentity in case of hitmen coming after them
