I think the word you are referring to is usually "pr0n." Note the zero in place of the letter O. It is a deliberate misspelling of the word "porn," that was developed for several reason. The first is get around adult content filters at schools, libraries, workplaces, or even parental filters placed on home computers. These types of software often monitor your search terms and automatically block offensive terms like "porn" or "xxx." Pr0n would not set off these filters and allowed you to find adult material. At first "pron" was used by a few websites in hopes of catching some hits from people who misspelled the word and made it through the filters, but the simple switch was soon blocked as well. Pr0n followed because most filters ignore words with numbers in them. It caught on quickly- especially in the online gaming world.

it is a deliberate misspelling like gamers use in leet speak, for example if you are a gamer and are really good at a game you are considered elite or leet, and the gamer speak way of saying you are leet is 1337. misspellings, numerals for letters and other characters are among the many ways this is done. teh means the, pron is porn.
