Thank you for your opinion, I'll make a decision soon. Although I appreciate you trying to help, I really need to make my own decision. I'm sorry, I just really need to think about this on my own, thank you. Your concern is very touching, but this is a personal matter.

I usually just say that I'm not trying to be ugly, but I just dont feel like talking about it anymore...lets you off the hook, and they dont feel like you're are rejecting what they have to say. I am usually up for advice, but some people like to talk just to hear themself talk..like one of my good friends, who I truly respect. But ya know, we all have one of those kind of friends we accept as they are, but have to draw lines!

silently await a better opinion if they persist tell them their point back, no matter how bad, and offer someone else to take the point, moving the burden of courtesy to the un-welcome element

I'd just tell them it's something I need to work out on my own. Or I'd just say fuck off, but that's not very polite.
