  • Absolute Power does....because without a varying opinion and/or discussion, everything goes one way and therefore corrupts.
  • If you have no power then you have no influence, so are unable to corrupt. The more power you hold, the more able you are to abuse that power for you own ends (thereby corrupting that power). It's like a sliding scale, and at the end is absolute power and absolute corruption. If you are the only one to hold power that is corruption in itself. The interesting thing is that religious people claim their God has absolute power, and that must imply that God is absolutely corrupt. What a paradox.
  • Absolute Power is I suppose rather like the Divine Right of Kings, They can do anything they want and have anything they want . Like a spoiled nasty spiteful child they start to feel that there is nothing and nobody in the world and sometimes even out of it that can say them nay. We have long lines of Dictators who had absolute power and are perfect examples , Hitler , Idi Amin, Pol Pot and many more, they are all good examples of Absolute power Corrupting
  • Because it removes something essential to our personal and community - accountability with checks and balances. People are made to live in community/ensemble. Without the contributions of all, the system and its rulers are corrupted.
