Its something about the way the dark hair frames the face giving it more presence. The eyebrows being dark also make them more pronounced which emphasises the eyes and all of this makes the face look "stronger".

tall, dark and handsome is appealing because we are "visual" creatures who like to "look" at someone who is appealing...tall men are perceived as more virile. Dark men are perceived as stronger. And handsome men are perceived as more difficult to "capture" thusly creating a sense of "the chase." Short, fair complected and unattractive men symbolize weakness to women in our society. Why? Vanilla is bland. Chocolate is robust. Also, women do not want to be taller than their man. Also, men who are not attractive on the "outside" lose big time if they are not attractive on the "inside." I prefer a man, who, if you turned him inside out, he would be just as attractive. But then again, we females should be ashamed at ourselves for not giving the small, light and ugly men more chances... :sigh:

For me, it's because of my internal perception of those traits: Tall = protection I feel protected and safe with a tall guy (I'm small) Dark = if it's skin tone, then he looks healthy (i.e. tan appears healthy) if it's the hair, then it makes for more contrasting features (skin tone vs. hair color) Handsome = well, that one's obvious :)

Tall dark & handsome/beautiful are irresistible because when having found the right one, who's not arrogant & self-centered, you feel safe in a sort of way. They have this charm about them that makes you melt like butter. They're sexy, interesting & mysterious. You can get lost in their eyes(it's hard to get lost in a redhead or blondes' eyes). And the way they slowly come down for a kiss, so passionate & they don't even have to try, is like, an erotic dream. I once was at an outside party & a guy just like this, wearing a black cowboy hat & his shirt slightly unbuttoned, well let's just say. com'n baby, light my fire!!!
