  • Totally agree. I couldn't have said it any better.
  • I believe you can recognize wisdom in others without being wise yourself. Those who value truth would rather discover it than hold on to some position that refutes it, masks it or denies it. :)
  • I whole heartedly agree! ;)
  • True, definitely one attribute of being wise.
  • I agree strongly with both parts. Finding the truth is sometimes a futile effort if the truth is impossible to know, and it seems that often the unknowable truths are the most strongly defended. I wonder if a truly foolish person can recognize the foolishness in others? :)
  • Yes, a truly wise person would surely recognize that they do not know it all and would therefore be open to listening and learning from others, the other side to that i beleive is to impart wisdom ;0)
  • I agree totally but it must be the truth as it really is and not how we wish it to be.
  • agreed, wise words.
  • I agree. It's too bad that there are so many people feel the need to 'stay the course' just so they can be right (rather than correct).
  • dead on ...
  • Agree and disagree, because there are times when defending your position or point of view is needed.
  • I believe that is very true. You will never grow or progress if you stand in the same spot forever. That is what happens if you are unwilling to accept TRUE wisdom or truth because you are too stubborn to let go of what you "thought or want to be true". On the other hand, you should never take someones word as truth on ANYTHING until you have examined it thoroughly(so to speak) Saying I try to live by: Knowledge is the process of learning To be smart you must seek accurate knowledge, To be wise you must accept and use that knowledge.
  • It is so much easier to talk to a person who strives for wisdom but has also learned the art of kindness to season his/her wisdom and is able teach you with patience. Pro 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. Pro 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
  • I definately do agree. Very intuitive way of explaining it!
  • i have to agree with this one
  • The latter, not the former. Some people simply don't have any real wisdom.
  • I agree with both parts. Which is not to say that every person is wise or wise in the same aspects of life. Wisdom is truth and truth resonates on a deeper level. You can recognize a person who has studied what he/she is talking about. On the second part: A wise person - no matter how certain they may be of something - recognizes the possibility that they may be wrong/ partly wrong and that they may have more to learn. They also recognize that they are human and have emotions and that their emotions may cloud their judgement. So they make a point of not becoming defensive or fearful that they might be proved wrong; but rather make a point of focussing on discovering the truth.
