Theoretically, I think the court will issue some kind of demand of consent. Since the inanimate object can't consent, the court will have to deny the license.

I don't know that it was binding, but a friend of mine, whose grandfather had a notary stamp for teh state of Illinois passed away, we found the stamp and immediatly started making everything "official" with the state crest. We did marry a friend of mine to an oak tree. After 7 years we divorced them and tried to force the state to make him give half his belongings to the tree, but they didn't take us seriously...I don't know why.
