Perhaps sad that I am using this quote, but from Dr Hook's song, When You're In Love... "Turning round on your best friend if he puts her down" kind of sums it up. I see the phrase as referring to love bypassing your logic chip. You don't look for, or notice, those minor imperfections that others do - a slightly long nose, bushy eyebrows, big ears, an unsightly mole. You see only beneath that, to the personality, and that is what you find amazing. If anybody, even your best friend, points out bad points then it will result in an exchange of blows, because you do not have the capacity to see anything wrong. I'll leave you with a little Valentine's poem I once received: Don't make love at your garden gate, 'cause love is blind, but the neighbours aint!

Love is Blind; When a man unwittingly becomes pussy whipped and hands his testacles over to his partner without consideration of the ramifications of such action. eg; marriage, kids, child support, alimony, divorce, etc.

When you say Love Is Blind, it can be said another way....Blinded By Love. It can make you totally oblivious to any possible fault he or she might have or any negative consequences of anything having to do with your relationship with that person that might otherwise be obvious to anyone who is not blinded by love.
-
That you don't choose who you fall in love with.

love is blind love is blind.........hmmmmmmm I think it means that love doesn't see the bog zit on your face or your splotchy skin, it doesn't even notice that you had a bad hair day, love breaks throw the skin of one and reveals the wonderful truth beneath it.

Some say love is blind, but true love is not blind. No doubt the ancient lover Jacob, whom the Bible tells about, and whose love for beautiful Rachel was such that in his eyes seven years “proved to be like some few days because of his love for her,” saw much in her, and his fondness for her throughout her life proved that it was love and not infatuation. Further, had it been infatuation he could not have waited seven years, for, as it has well been said, “infatuation is haste to mate.” Gen. 29:20.

When you are in love, you tend to not see the bad characteristics of the one you are in love with. As the newness wears off, those become more apparent. I would say that takes about three months. . .
-
That you love a person so much that you cannot recognise that they may have faults

IMAGINE searching for a bride if you were very nearsighted and if suitable maidens ventured out only after dark. Such is the plight of the male emperor moth. But this elegant insect has certain attributes that make this formidable challenge less daunting. During the summer months, our prospective suitor spends his days as a fat caterpillar gorging on all the food he can find. Thus, the following spring, when he emerges from his chrysalis, the resplendent moth has enough food stored to last him his brief lifetime. With food problems resolved, the emperor moth can concentrate on the task of finding a mate. Nevertheless, if it weren’t for a useful appliance he carries with him, finding a female by the light of the moon would be as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack. Sprouting like delicate ferns from the moth’s diminutive head are two antennas. These tiny fronds may well be the most sophisticated odor-detecting devices on earth. Furthermore, they are fine-tuned to pick up minute traces of a pheromone, or “perfume,” that the female moth obligingly emits. Although females may be few and far between, their potent pheromone acts like an olfactory lighthouse. So sensitive are the male moth’s antennas that they can detect a female nearly seven miles [11 km] away. Thus all obstacles are finally overcome, and boy moth finally meets his girl counterpart. Love can afford to be blind in the insect world—at least in this case.

You won't see the truth, because you don't want to.

It's interesting to note how Shakespeare coined the idea Love is Blind and also Love at First Sight... I think alot of people interpret it as a seperation of physical attraction and Love. That Love will trump all physical imperfections. I personally don't interpret it this way. What "Love is Blind" to me means is that "you must actively find Love because Love is blind and can't easily find you."

That it originated in Venice.
