  • They have thyroid problems....be nice a-hole!!!
  • Is it possible they are overweight as a result of a disability? They don't ask a person their weight and just hand out stickers for handicap spots. You have to *be* handicapped.
  • Well, it would also make sense for them to stop over-eating and get some exercise, so at least they are consistent in not making any sense.
  • that would help them to burn some calories... might be good for them. But nobodies interested in helping them. The shops are interested in their money. And the very overweight people are interested in NOT walking. So they choose shops or buildings where they can park as close as possible. The only ones who could change that would be the government. But the fat (sorry) people wouldn't vote for someone who's taking away their nice little privilege. So that's why... i guess
  • a vaguely clever but unkind question. in probably all cases of people with disability tags; they are not disabled because they are "fat", they are "fat" because they are disabled. by the grace of god, i am not one of those people.
  • I assume you were trying to be funny? But unfortunately many people become obese as a result of being handicapped. One doesn't necessarily have anything at all to do with the other.
  • Damn right. I will so get downrated for this. The incidence of thyroid issues is so infinitesimal that it is not even worth considering when you think about the approximate 50% obesity rate in countries like america, australia, england etc. Even so, with the worst of thyroid imbalances, one can control their weight, it just takes a hell of a lot more work. For the very very few of whom have such problems, you have my utmost empathy, but for the other 99.99% of obese people, you have none, you put strain on the economy, and the health system, as well as warping western society for onlookers, and should be taxed at a greater rate for doing so.
  • Political correctness
  • theoretically..no ..moraliscally.. no .. stupid question too :O)
  • I don't know why anybody who does not own a wheelchair is allowed to park there. Handicap spots have wheelchair ramps next to them so people in wheelchairs can have an easier time getting in out of their car and chair. If you don't have a chair (fat, skinny, short, tall, whatever) park your ass in the back and walk, I do.
  • You have a point but that alone isn't a solution. You've got the media advertising fast foods. Foods with chemicals put into them for the sake of making the eater even hungrier and sugar in drinks to make the drinker thirstier, you've got places with no leisuree facilities to take up sports or some people may feel too insecure about there abilities or physical appearance to go to a gym, go walking or join a sport. Instead we've got TV clueing people to the couch and people abuse the service. Healthy options in stores getting harder to find and they're usually more expensive.
  • Thats news to me. I didnt know you can get handicap tags just because you're obese (overweight).
  • This has to be one of the most insensitive questions on here. I lost a very good friend who had people say that about her. She was not 'handicapped' because she was obese. She was obese because she was handicapped. She had a hole in her heart, asthma, and arthritis. She could not, not would not, exercise. Asthma meds are often corticosteroids, as well, and those can cause weight gain. She died less than a month after I confronted two people who believed like you do, when she parked at a Walmart. In the handicapped spot. Not all disabilities are visual. And often, obesity is due to not exercising. There are many who can NOT exercise enough to be a 'healthy' weight. I love how people think others choose to be obese. Those people should try carrying around 2 or more bowling balls, strapped to their body, all day long, every day. For people that are morbidly obese, 100 or more lbs overweight, it becomes physically hard to do anything. That is not a fun life. Nor is it one most that are, would choose. I've also seen my share of THIN people swing into handicapped parking spots, get out, and RUN into the store. What should be done with them? Why target those you see that are obese, instead of a general target to anyone that parks there that does not need it? You are no better than anyone else. You can NOT get handicapped tags without your doctor certifying you are handicapped. It is not always thyroid, there are lots of reasons for obesity, not all are lazy. A few are: thyroid, corticosteroids or other meds, asthma, heart problems, severe arthritis, degenerative joint disease, genetics, improper diet (with the proliferation of the poor now, that is what many people have, because poor food is cheaper), and so on. Many people abuse the handicapped parking issue, Not all are overweight, in fact, I'd say it is 50/50 as to overweight or thin. It is lazy people that do, or selfish ones. And no rule will make them change.
  • theyre probably so overweight they have a hard time walking, that would make sense to have them at the other end then they would get some exercise and lose weight
