  • i dnt know but they do believe in God. well a God dunno if its the same 1.
  • Rastas do believe in god as well as jesus christ, they believe very highly in the them
  • I spoke to a guy who has been a rastafarian for 20 plus years and he and he said that they don't believe in Jesus because Jesus was only the name of a slave boat.
  • Rastafarians are not Christians in the generally accepted idea of the word "Christian". They do not believe in Jesus as the Son of God or as God the Son. "Rasta, or the Rastafari movement, is a religion and philosophy that accepts Haile Selassie I, the former Emperor of Ethiopia, as God incarnate, whom they call Jah.[1] He is also seen as part of the Holy Trinity as the messiah promised in the Bible to return. The name Rastafari comes from Ras (Head or Duke or Chief) Tafari Makonnen, the pre-coronation name of Haile Selassie I...Rasta doctrine concerning the Holy Trinity relates to the name Haile Selassie meaning Power of the Trinity in Ge'ez. Rastas believe that Haile Selassie is both God the Father and God the Son of the holy Trinity, while it is themselves, and potentially all human beings, who embody the Holy Spirit. Some see Melchizedek in addition to Jesus as having been former incarnations of Haile Selassie." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rastafari_movement Rastafarians do, however, follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. http://www.cesnur.org/testi/rasta.htm
  • That is false. So if that what you were told, then you were mislead.
  • The have beliefs that accept Haile Selassie I, the former Emperor of Ethiopia, as Jah. This is the Rastafari name for God incarnate, taken from a shortened form of Jehovah found in Psalms, and part of the Holy Trinity as the messiah promised to return in the Bible. http://www.important.ca/rastafari.html http://www.important.ca/rastafari_religion_overview.html Since their beliefs include the Bible and its teachings, yes, the do believe in Jesus Christ, but not in the same manner as 'regular' Christians.
  • No. It is not true that Rasta's do not beliveve in CHRIST JESUS. Ras is short for Ras TAFARI. In the Amharic language of Ethiopia ras means duke or prince. Tafari means creator. THE HEAD CREATOR, WHO was crowned on 02 November 1930 as KING OF kings, LORD OF lords (Revelation 19: 11-16)and given HIS baptismal NAME of HAILE SELASSIE I (The POWER OF THE TRINITY)says in an interview given in 1968, "I would tell a person who was considering the claim of CHRIST for the first time that it is necessart to have faith in the ALMIGHTY, that it is necessary to have love and that it is necessary to conduct oneself in a manner that we have been taught to do in the Bible." Utterance from 1966: "..The LOVE shown in CHRIST by OUR GOD to mankind should constrain all of us who are followers and disciples of CHRIST to do all in OUR power to see to it that the message of SALVATION is carried to those of our fellows for whom CHRIST OUR SAVIOR was sacrificed but who have not had the benefit of hearing the GOOD News." It is totally impossible for anyone to truly believe and know that HAILE SELASSIE I IS JAH and not accept HIM in HIS SAVIOR CHARACTER as JESUS. It is true however that some just don't know because of a lack of study. Faith + Knowledge = Overstanding & Wisness (wisdom).
  • the answer to your question is actualy true and false. There are different sects of Rastas most new sects of Rastas such as the twelve tribes sect which Bob Marley belonged to believe in Jesus but kno him by another name because the letter j was not around during Jesus' time. They know him as yehshua. The modern Rastas see His Imperial Majesty as a holy profit much like Catholics see mother Mary or john the baptist. Most old school Rastas believe selassie is Christ. The problem with defineing the rasta faith is every Rasta has different beliefs and there realy is no written set of beliefs like in most religions. It is also hard because Rastas don't believe that being rasta is a religion but they see it as a way of life. Thanks and praise be to jah! Rastafari
  • Blessed be... Respect to the bredren who gave His imperial Majesty's speech excerpt. You must believe Yeshua Cristos as being the son of God if you even understand His Imperial Majesty as being anything related to divinity. Why? Because he was both King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Conquering lion of Judah, as well as the Defender of the Christian Faith. Read revelations and you will see that the LAMB is in the midst of the THRONE of the Lion. His Majesty was a Christian. He glorified Christ therefore according to Scripture, he was glorified. Christ returned as a thief in the night representing the face of the Almighty in His Imperial Majesty. The combination of the bloodline of David, and also being a Christian. "To those who overcome will sit with me on the throne of the Father as I have..." "To those who overcome will be revealed my new name and my father's name." His Imperial Majesty sat upon the throne of David. It's up to every individual to place that fact into his/her belief structure. But the scriptures are there and the recent facts are there. Do your math and see what YOU come up with. His Imperial majesty said..."I for one glory in the Bible." Again...you are stepping outside of the Christian box to replace "new name" with the new name. Blessings in your studies. Remember the scripture, "Knock and it shall be opened" So don't fret, if you are sincere, the answers will come. One love. -Greg Ward
  • This is to Greg Ward. I live in Harrisonburg, I am growing, learning as a young Rastafari. I have only ever conversed with another Rastafari once. Is there anyone in Harrisonburg I could reason, and learn from? - Chris Garcia
  • No. Rasta's accept the teaching of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, who being a member of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church worshipped the Christ. They also recognize the Christ as the Messiah promised in His first coming. However, Rastas differ on two important issues about the Christ. One, that the Christ was not a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, white man. According to his lineage put forth in the Bible, he had African ancestors (as well as Middle Eastern). Two, the Christ has returned, and his name is Haile Selassie I, which means Power of the Trinity. The second coming of the Christ prophesied in Rev. 5:5 (and other scriptures)has been fulfilled in JAH Ras Tafari. According to Rasta's, JAH first came through Yahoshua (Jesus) as proclaimd by H.I.M. as the suffering servant, Lamb of God, who died for the sins of the world and then He returned as Emperor Haile Selassie I as the Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords who has ushered in the days of judgment by opening the seven seals.
  • I believe in Jesus Christ and I'm Rasta. That's what some people get confused with. Some Rastas do, and they will go to Heaven. Some don't, and needless to say they shall burn in Hell.
  • rastas believe in God and in christ but one ting rastas do not agree is the colour of christ. christ is black just as haile selassie.
