Because the believe it will get them more attention. However, they don't realize it usually gets them more negative attention that positive. But, what you, or me, might consider slutty someone else might consider conservative.

because they think they are hot and they believe they look good. in fact most of them don't look good at all. i feel sorry for them, most of the time.

First of all, people really, really need to stop referring to women as sluts, bitches, whores, skanks, etc. It is sexist, it is offensive and it is disgustingly primitive. Secondly, you have no right, at all, to judge a women - or anyone, for that matter - on something as petty as their clothes. I know we are an image driven society, but I refuse to tolerate people who do not use their OWN brains and form their OWN judgments about a person instead of relying solely on first impressions or looks. A woman dresses the way she does for her own reasons. It isn't up to us to decide for her if they are valid or not. You have no right to label someone as a slut because of the height of her heels or the cut of her top. If you don't like the way someone dresses, don't look at them. The only person you can change in this world is yourself. Either become more tolerant of the ways in which people are different, or just don't look.

Probably for the same reason some people are harsh and judgmental. We are all unique personalities with differing views on morals, ethics and even right and wrong.

Women dress 'like sluts' for three reasons. Reason #1 - Women are insecure. A recent British study found that women think about their appearance more than men think about sex, which is incredible. The more insecure a woman is, the more confirmation she needs that she is attractive. She accomplishes this by wearing revealing clothes, tons of make-up or whatever she needs to in order to attract the stares and admiration of men (and women!). Breast implants (for the extremely insecure/stupid) and push-up bras not only get them that attention but they also make the women FEEL like her breasts are bigger. She sees them bigger in her vision, she sees her cleavage and she feels more attractive even when there's not a man in sight. It's a fantasy in their minds and that fantasy is broken when a guy makes a comment or approaches them unwantedly. Look at the women you know. The one's who are grounded, secure and know what they want in life are the same ones who wear less make-up, who save the sexy outfits for nights out with her man (yes, she probably has a man), and never has to seek out the stares of strangers to feel like she's pretty. She knows she's pretty. She just doesn't need to say "Look at me, i'm pretty!". Reason #2 - Women in America confuse femininity with being sexy. Maybe it's better to say that they believe that their femininity is represented through their sexually provocative dress. They FEEL feminine and sexy not from the clothes themselves but from the attention they bring as well. To me, yes i'm male, salty comes from the word salt, windy comes from wind and sexy comes from sex. Somehow, women don't see it this way. Wearing her thong out of her pants and a lo-cut shirt with a maxi push-up bra IS supposed to be sexy to her but men are chastised if they acknowledge her as sexy. Doing so degrades her from 'desirable' and 'beautiful' (which is what she wants) to 'an easy lay' or 'a bimbo' (which is how she's actually dressed). If you have 9 prostitutes and 1 regular girl all wearing the same outfit, the regular girls will still argue that she doesn't look like a prostitute. Go figure. Reason #3 - Women don't understand Men. Despite the thousands of woman's magazines that profess to tell women what men are really thinking, none of them have gotten it right. To men, there are 4 basic types of women. Women we don't like anything about and don't want anything to do with. Women who we like but for some reason we could never date or marry - friends only. There are the women we want to marry and, last but not least, the woman we would love to have sex with for the night, week or summer but don't want to have a relationship with other than a sexual one. In the same British study mentioned above, researchers showed pictures of 3 women to a large group of men. All 3 women were attractive, and the photos showed their full bodies. Two of the women were dressed nicely but not sexually provocative. The 3rd woman had larger breasts, wore a mini skirt and a low cut shirt and was the most attractive of the three women. Men were asked to select a woman that looked like a woman that they might like to marry and to pick a woman they would only want to have sex with. Of all the men, 99% chose to have sex with 'the slut' but only 2% chose her as a girl they might like to marry. Take a lesson bimbos of the world. Men want fulfilling relationships too. But in the meantime, we want sex and if that's what you're selling.... don't be surprised that every guy you meet takes off when he get's tired of doing you. You became his fantasy, dressed like Britney in your new mini-skirt, and he had his fantasy and he moved on. He met you under sexual duress ... or your sexual dress and it's over. If you dress like a sex object you'll be treated like one. If I put on a police uniform.... everyone thinks i'm a cop. I wonder why. Duh. The sexiest, most beautiful women in the world are women who's inner beauty shines out so much it envelops them. They are happy and they don't care if a hair is out of place or if their tits look big enough in 'this shirt'. Their femininity is part of them, not something they feel when they put on their super-bra and daisy-dukes. Genuine, confident women who spend more time smiling than in front of the mirror are rare. Nice tits and sexy bodies are a dime a dozen. Too bad so many women decide to price themselves so cheaply.

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. That would depend on what “dressing like a slut” is in actuality. If one tried to equate a mini skirt, tune top, 4 inch pumps etc as slutty, one could also equate a 3-piece or a double breasted suit to being a mobster. Maybe baggy jeans and an over-sized jersey top with a brimmed cap as equal to a gang banger. What one might think slutty another might think sexy high fashion.
