First off, good for you! Your first thought may well be, "What have I gotten myself into?" But believe it or not, it really does get easier as you progress, and before you know it you'll find yourself taking pride in your new knowledge and abilities. That sounds like a lotta malarkey, but I swear it's true. Best of luck to you!

Hey you'll be fine. Lackland is cake. Just don't fall behind in PT and don't sneak food from the dining hall, or don't try to smoke in a porta-potty. All of those happend to someone in my basic flight. I'm an A1C stationed at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. I've been in 2 years this month. I love it, def. going to be a life-er. Don't let the T.I's bug you, or don't let anybody in your flight get in your way of graduating. Basic was only 6 weeks long for me, I think they are now 8 weeks, hit me back if you have any questions, 22/m from Indiana, I work TMO.... Good luck btw... my email is Jonathan.bullock@elmendorf.af.mil take care...

Congratulations! And thank you for making such an unselfish choice. I appreciate your service. You are about to embark on a life changing experience that will serve you well all your days. Keep an open mind and try to absorb as much information as possible. You are going to learn and grow and accomplish things you didn't dream you were capable of. Pay close attention to your instructors and those in charge and you will be fine. In 6 short months you will look back on the whole "basic training" experience and wonder why you were worried at all. Please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing. Good luck and Thanks again.

Most of it is a mind game, keep your mouth shut and your feet moving. Thanks for being a great American, and thanks for your future service.

Do what you're told and keep your mouth shut. And for goodness sake- don't whine about anything or be a snitch.

When you go to basic where something dull like black shirt and pants. If you were something easy to target they like to pick on you first. You dont want them knowing your name right off the bat. It really is all mind games. They get in your face and try to intimidate you. My TI. was REALLY good looking so when ever he got in my face I imagined kissing him to get threw the spit all over my face. lol You will be on morning pt so that is good cus you exercise in the morning. Since I went threw I heard you go to alot classes to so get ready to try to stay awake. Just know that as tired as you are, your TI is getting less sleep then you. They go to bed after you and get up before you so just know life gets better and its worth it in the end. Graduation is amazing and the feeling of accomplishment is great. Good luck

oh yeah, know your reporting statement... stand at attention when you talk to any one... hold the railing when walking down the stairs.. some TI's tell you to run up the stairs the first day and then get in your face and ask you why you cant read the sign that says walk. dont put your hands in your pockets.. dont look up while eating... know the high chain of command like sec of deffense.. president... lol... dont bring extra shit you dont need cus they go threw it and make fun of you.. calling card is good when ever you can call... practice face movements to ease stress of learning new shit there...

Keep your mouth shut, never volunteer, and don't get the attention of your T.I. (Thanks for the service airman.) It would've been better you'd asked this question several months ago. Practice running, and doing reverse pushups. You'll be drilled into working with the team. Basic is a psych job, it's a game- remember that. NO SEX during Basic! Remember that, you get into a shitload of trouble if you get caught having sex then. Believe me. You'll never have enough sleep during. (I fell asleep standing up). Hope you can iron your t-shirts and underwear into 12 inch squares. And your socks into perfect thirds. Learn how to polish boots. Memorise your reporting statement: Airman Numnutz reports as ordered (or something like that). Develop a poker face.

pack lightly in a bookbag you have to carry all your stuff and you can't drop it always say your reporting statement when talking with anyone in authority "sir (or maam) trainee (your last name) reports as ordered" don't stand out don't volunteer for laundry crew volunteer for something like shoe liner or bedliner you have to volunteer for something so don't listen to don't volunteer cuz you might get something you can't stand like latrine crew (that's cleaning the bathrooms) don't talk when you eat and eat quickly work on your running if you're not good at do push ups and sit ups everynight so you don't get recycled when you get recycled for pt they send you back 2 weeks i graduated from basic about 2 months ago

keep your mouth shut and your eyes and ears open and you will do fine.

Congratulations for choosing the best service, IMO. As others have mentioned, pay attention, mouth shut, don't complain, do what you're told, and keep your knees slightly bent while standing at attention or you'll pass out. Realize that it IS a mind game and do your very best and you'll be just fine. What is your career field? I served 6 years in 78-84 as a Fuels Specialist and Management Engineer. Good luck and let us know how you did.
