the noise depends on the kind of computer you have. if its a laptop you somtimes might hear loud noise comming from your fan, all it is doing is cooling your computer. you may also hear a noise coming from your cd drive..its its not to loud it should be ok, if it screeming loud then you should probably get a new one.

Yeah, all the time, some of them are rather abnormal, sounds like there's a whole city in there. Also, once, sleep depraved, I could have sworn I heard small children laughing out of the monitor. O_o

If you're getting noises from you computer, it shouldn't be too hard to track down. There are not too many moving parts in there. It's probably coming from one of your drives (hard drive or CD) or, the most likely culprit, one of the cooling fans. The is one in the back the cools the whole machine and, in many cases, a second fan that cools the processor chip. Open up your computer, turn it on and have a listen to see if you can track it down.

I once started a Mac update running & went to lunch. While I was gone, my co-workers heard a loud noise from the machine. Guess an update can do that.

Yes, the fan is considered a cooling device plugged in a desktop or laptop. It keeps the temperature low so other components don’t get burned out. Most of the time using a compressed air can to make sure its dust free will solve the problem. If the noise persists, your hard drive can be infected with a malicious spirit. It is the type of spirit who will have your fingers glued to your keyboard late at night. The best way to break free is to let go of whatever it is you are doing, turn your computer off, and come back the next day at an earlier time, rested and ready to go.
