If you mean humans, we've been here for a couple million years (Typically anything in the Homo genus is considere a species of human), if you define people as modern homo-sapiens, then roughly 200,000 accourding to DNA evidense. Cro-Magnon skulls in Europe are ALL more than 6,000 years old. Neanderthals appeared about 600,000 years back. So, if nothing else, you've got some proof that we've been here more than six tiny millenia.
