• Sorry, can't oblige you. I'm not the grammar police, however, I've been "privileged" to see how this type of speech communication style seems to go hand in hand with other more invasive negative resulting traits. Teen pregnancy, poor or erratic grades, low self esteem, acceptance of physical abuse and/or emotional abuse, shiftlessness and ease of putting one's lot on others (refusal or inability to accept responsibility for one's life)and if you check the stats for the number of gun related shootings in Philly for the year, I rather think you will be as sickened as I am at how many CHILDREN and young adults are dead. It's not too soon for this young lady be cultivate some intelligent language skills and to start believing she deserves the best in her life and that SHE gets that by creating positive, intelligent opportunities coupled with avoiding wrong behaviors. She deserves honesty & kindness, not a pat on the back.

• I'm not saying Ebonics is to blame. And personally as an actor and a writer, I'm prone to playing with words, accents and characters for fun and good times myself. However, a rather huge majority of the young people, ages 13 to 25 who get shot in South Philly ARE into playing the Gansta routine. That is how they talk, walk, dress and try to act. It frequently endears them to those of a more hard core...real deal..drug, drinking and gun packin mentality type. Then they are simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Add to that the sure knowledge that we tend to speak and behave as we practice...it's one thing to "play" with words and speech for fun, and another to CULTIVATE a communication level of this type as your personal persona of who and what you are. It is low class and lazy and makes you appear ignorant; when in fact you may be a very bright person with a lot to offer..aside from a $20.00 blow job. We may simply have to agree to disagree on this topic.
