Where I live there's a casting agency that's used when companies come here to film. Sometimes you'll see in the local paper that they're looking for a specific age or type of people for a film and you go through them.

When production companies get here, they don't have the time to do that stuff on their own so it's more practical to do it that way.

If your area has any type of film office, try to contact them to see what they do. Most states have an office like that and they might be a step if there isn't one in your area.

Starring in one? A little trickier -- sometimes extras get speaking parts but that's about it. Hard to suddenly star in movies unless you want to start small with student films and the like.

Other than that, it's probably a matter of getting experience in acting/theater and working your way up.

    Good luck!
