I've seen painters with blue.

My hubby was a painter and he didn't seem to care what color his pants were. Wait, why do they wear white paints? Paints or pants? ;-)

Its traditional and stems from a time when 95% of painting was in white! So they wore white so the paint did not show up as much as if they wore blue denim! If you look at old pictures the houses are all white! White and Red were the cheapest and easiest colors to produce in those days! Thus, the houses were painted white and barns were traditionally red. You could paint your house red if you wanted everybody to think it was a house of ill repute! But that was a while ago, I guess the tradition just held!

Traditionally, most paint used by house painters was some shade of white. The wearing of white is simply because it does not contrast and show up the paint drops and splatters that are part of the days work. Blue Jean painters look pretty sloppy after a few days of painting, and less likely to be hired.

A lot of them do exteriors, and as an ex-painter who worked outside in the middle of the summer in Texas, white is the only color I wanted to wear. We couldn't show up in shorts, you don't look professional. But white pants are pants and they keep you as cool as your going to get.

It blends well with the other colors.

As a professional painter, working in very high end homes[interiors]wearing white is the sign of cleanliness. These types of homes are always immaculate, like walking into a magazine. The homeowner wouldn't appreciate someone in dark jeans, dark t-shirt &work boots, covered in various colors of white, clobbering around there house.Plus white is the majority of the color used by professional painters

We don't. We wear black pants. People just want a lot of white paint. A LOT.
