  • Well King as an atheist in recovery I do occasionally go to AA meetings and I find the social aspect of the program helps, you know having friends who do things other than use. I admit I have a problem with the whole "higher power" thing. What I do is call my higher power the strength of the rational mind, or the power of help from others. Also you can check out SOS (save our selves) it is an atheist based recovery program, it's just harder to find meetings. So really I just take what works for me and ignore the stuff I don't believe in. Good Luck.
