Thats a new one on me. Do you mean independent? If so the best way is to remove everything in your life that holds an expense that you can do without. See if you able to live on the money you make. You had things back you enjoy one at a time as you can afford it. Try to never live over your own means. Any time you make a large purchase give it a lot of thought and shop around for the best deal. Don't buy cheap but buy smart. If you can swing it you should try to hold at least 10% of your earning back in case something comes up.

I think it is unavoidable. Hermits don't do well in society. If you live among "we the people" you are of necessity interdependent..you take what you lack/need from society and give what you have back to society and that's how it works. :)
