Obama feels it is the individual rights of a state/city to impose their own ban on handguns, thus outlawing the handguns currently owned by law abiding citizens. How does this make you feel, and do you think they should have a right to do this?

we, the people, are citizens of a democracy thanks to the constitution of the united states...this is a violation of the second amendment...enough said...

Well in Australia it is highly illegal to carry a gun. Its the opposite to the US! I must say, I think you would be more likely to be shot in your country than mine! Generally The Great White Sharks take care of all the mayhem here! I wonder what purpose they serve for you guys, in that if you shot an intruder etc with more than reasonable force you could still be charged with murder couldn't you.

The recent Washington DC case should provide some precedent to this. I think 2nd amendment rights should be protected to the side of gun freedom. I don't think local governments can restrict something that the constitution guarantees. They can require permits and such, but they can't trump the Constitution.
