  • thats politics for ya! it seems that many people simply want whoever is on "their side" to win, and don't really care what their qualifications are or even where they stand on most issues. it is unfortunate. personally, I don't care for either of the candidates, or either of their running mates.
  • Sarah Palin has no national experience. Yes, she's been governor of a state, but as Vice-President she will need to deal with the needs of the entire country, not just one state. Obama's been in the U.S. Senate. Although he does represent a single state (Illinois), he's had experience with the give and take needed to get things done on the national level.
  • I'll just say that one of them seems to have a grasp on the economy, foreign policy and has fingers on the pulse of the nation.
  • I think it stems more from familiarity than experience between the two. People have gotten the opportunity to know everything there is to know about Barack Obama, weather or not we are going to vote for him, he's been vetted. Sarah Palin is an unknown to most of us, and has not been subjected to as much vetting and public spot light as needed for folks to become as comfortable with the idea of her potentially becoming the next president-worse case scenario.
  • Their experience is far from similar. Sarah Palin has a bachelor's degree in Journalism, Barack Obama has a bachelor's in political science with a specialization in international relations. He also has a law degree from Harvard, where he served as president of the Harvard Law Review. Sarah Palin was a sports reporter, and was on the local city council in her hometown (in an election who's total votes were under 900). She did successfully stop one law from coming into affect, a law that would make the local bar close 2 hours earlier. Barack Obama became a civil rights lawyer, and taught constitutional law at Columbia University. He also founded and was on the board of several community organizations to help increase voter registration and promote civil rights. Sarah Palin became mayor of her town, and then governor of her state. Barack Obama became a state senator, then a US senator. These don't look anything alike to me. There's of course more, and I'm not going to be able to put everything in an answer here on AB. All this information was easily accessible on wikipedia. But, even given all this, Sarah Palin isn't running for President, so comparing them is worthless at this time. But there are those people who are so fired up and behind Sarah Palin because of her one-line jabs and her planned fiestiness, that this type of conversation must be done.
  • Palin has no national or international experience. But there are other things needed in addition to experience. If you just listen to her, it is clear that there is a completely different intellectual caliber, and she is not qualified for such high ofice.
  • It's funny. I've been asking the same question in reverse. It's accepted that McCain can say that Obama is not qualified to run the country because he has no experience. But it's okay for him to choose someone as his VP who has even less experience and has the same chance of being a good VP or (shudders) president than my left shoe.
  • Do you think Sarah Palin is as well informed as Barack Obama Charlie is great?
